Re: [LUG] Nasty Squid bug

What I saw declared there was that "no version with that bug has been released". It does not state that a version with that bug exists in the proper course of development and distribution. Is there a statement somewhere that there is a version with that bug, and it IS at Red Hat or wherever, BUT it is has not been released? It might be Klingon software I suppose, which is not released, but fights its way out...

Well, somebody on a RHEL forum says that specific version wasn't released. Their comment could be interpreted to mean "within RHEL channels"

Though to be fair, it's such a dramatic issue that if other versions than the EL build contained the bug and it was in wider use, it would certainly have gotten wider attention. Wheezy's current version of squid is 2.7, below the 3.1.23 affected, and a reassuring acknowledgement to the pragmatism of using a distro with a thorough testing cycle.
