[LUG] Server / Network monitoring

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a bit of advice on server and network monitoring and wondered if anyone had any experience?

Where I work our network of servers and clients seems to be ever expanding. Previously for monitoring we've used Nagios and Munin but while Munin but we're looking for something different, something that can monitor all our servers (a mixture of Debian and Windows Server).

I've had a quick play today with Zabbix and while it seems to support Linux and Windows systems it looks like a bit of a pig to configure (and after a bit of Googling I couldn't find out how to do something simple like monitoring disk space on a Linux machine).

We're looking for something open source that can sit on a Debian box and provide a pretty web interface for our Helpdesk to monitor things, and have something ring alarms (aka e-mail us) when things go wrong and I wondered what you guys use for network and server monitoring?

Ta,

Rob
