i might be wrong on this but when arm chips are multi core, they really mean, the nth cores just a programable coprocessors? ie its single core with an accelarator cores for specific functions? much like offloading to a gpu but its more general purpose.

It's 4 completely independant cpu cores sharing the same memory system. The GPU is the same GPU as before with its own set of cores. It's not like the Intel hyperthreading stuff.

The memory on the Pi v2 is much faster than the v1. The cores run at 900Mhz by default too.

Compiling my BASIC interpreter takes 3 minutes on a Pi v1. Down to under a minute on a single core on a v2 and down to 21 seconds when I get all 4 cores compiling at the same time (make -j5)
