A: No.
B: Fuck you, you arrogant prick. Who died and made you commander in
chief? By what authority do you speak to what "we" are and what "we"
want?
C: What *do* you think this list is for? Don't even answer that.

Well I will answer it.

I think the list is for Linux information, help, usage, and general banter. It's used to arrange meet-ups, ask for help and give help on Linux related subjects (and the occasional non-Linux subject too). It's used to help promote Linux, cheer its successes, and bemoan its losses. It covers Devon and Cornwall which between them has the biggest area and lowest population density of any counties in England. Having a good electronic communications medium for these topics is essential.

There is of-course the "G" aspect of this list - GNU - but for me, that's not the main thing.

Can you tell me how DRM in Firefox relates to Linux?

Frankly, I'm fed-up with your continual rants about stuff that's really not Linux related.

Google? I use google. I won't de-google myself. I don't need to.

Information about China not buying Windows8? Not interested here. I can read about that elsewhere.

Your one-liners with just a vague subject and a link - can't be bothered reading them.

Oh, how about your email with:

(The markup is from Emacs' marvelous org-mode).

So you're forcing us to try to use emacs now, are you? Why? Why not just post plain old links, then anyone can click on them no matter what they use. That's almost as bad as e.g. a Microsoft proprietary format.

I really think you'd be better off posting to comp.os.linux.advocacy than here for the most part. Good luck.

I use VIM. I write and sell closed-source software. I develop proprietary networking systems. I design and sell proprietary hardware solutions. I use closed-source commercial software and I also use Linux to do all of these.

But I also contribute open source software too - the most popular is the wiringPi library and utilities for the Raspbery Pi (with it's proprietary closed GPU) half a million downloads so-far. I teach people about Linux and programming (paid-for and for free) and I use and promote Linux and other free software wherever I can.

Give a little, take a little. Works for me.

Gordon
