And Marris Widgeon wheat. As an artisan baker I'm always on the look-out for heritage varieties and Marris Widgeon grows quicky and higher than all the usual weeds, so it outcompetes and grown naturally without pesticides.

I'm growing bere barley which outperforms most weeds but you can still tell where the weeds are.

You're growing Bere? I have a few bags of it - I was under the impression it was only grown & milled on Orkney.

Do not try to make bread with it! I have tried. You'll need at least 50% strong canadian in it (by weight) to make it workable, and even then it has a somewhat interesting flavour. Bere bannocks are OK though.

Can you get me some Marris Widgeon tho?

Only in stoneground flour form or baked into bread :)

is my "Devon Rustic" with 40% Otterton mill flour in it.

Pickard Seeds in Umberligh are supposed to be the genuine stockist (for seed), but Otterton mill gets theirs from Tamarisk farm in Dorset.

(warning: prehistoric framed website)

looks like they sell grain ready to mill, but whether that's good for planting or not is anyones guess..
