NP.  I just felt it was worth clarifying whether everyone's on the same

Same here.  Although I did, briefly, think that the latest drivers to
arrive in Debian testing had broken things.  It turned out that, in
fact, the on board GFX hardware had gone flaky(1).  Putting in a spare
card I had rectified the situation.

(1)  Probably stared at the time we suffered a lightning strike here,
and lost a certain amount of electronic equipment.  It's just that the
latest driver was the first that pushed the GFX chip set hard enough to
show the problem.  Either that, or it was a sheer coincidence.
