Has anyone had much joy in putting Linux on the “slug”? (A Cisco / Linksys NAS device)

I’ve come across this site: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/ and it looks like it’s a fair bit of effort, so, just seeing if it’s worth doing really…

I do have various old PCs lying around, but I’m looking for something that doesn’t have a 500W PSU running 24/7…

Either that, or has anyone got other NAS hardware running (i.e. QNAP / Synology / etc) with Linux / FreeNAS / OpenMediaVault / etc?

I did back in the day, used Unslung I think, still have my slug somewhere. With modern expectations though I think they would seem massively underpowered today and would compare pretty poorly to using a Pi for something like this.
