[LUG] TTL serial to RS-232 or USB?

Hi folks,

Going on from the lightning strikes we've had, it looks like some more of our hardware were casualties. Our Draytek router has lost it's marbles (network ports don't work on it) and our little Netgear NAS network port is no longer working.

We've replaced the Draytek router but I was looking at the possibility of resurrecting the NAS. It runs a modified version of Debian and has 3 USB ports as well as the standard Ethernet.

Looking into it a bit, it seems it has TTL level 3.3 serial. Now I'm far from an expert on this sort of stuff, but I seem to recall other devices with JTAG interfaces needing some sort of chip to convert from TTL to RS232. This made me wonder, would something like a Raspberry Pi would be able to talk to it?

I'm thinking if I can get into a console I might be able to get some sort of USB to Ethernet adaptor working on it, while I realise it won't be as quick, it might at least resurrect it so it can be used for something.

Rob
