IIRC such "restrictions" have never stood up in court. Especially given that removing the HDD is in this case an essential diagnostic step. In
addition to being the most sensible way to attempt data recovery.

The actually message when booting up is "ERROR: no boot disk has been
detected or he disk has failed" maybe he got a hardware problem with the
1tb drive in it. It def acer job to fix , only 6 months old at the most.

Unless your friend bought it directly from Acer then the responsibility
is with a different retailer. Even if the retailer was Acer what actually applies is The Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994.
