Does anyone use Mythtv? Any opinions?

What distro? Ubuntu / Debian and Debian Multimedia?

Any suggestions?

What is your current favourite distribution, Buntu, Debbie, etc? Whatever, it is there is likely to be pre-packaged version of MythTV ready for you. I have a Revo on the back of the TV loaded, via a usb thumb drive, with Ubuntu 12.04 then Myth TV added from the Ubuntu menus - piece of piss, if you will excuse my French. Little or no knowledge of Linux required.

It is now rare for me to watch live TV, even the news is recorded which makes it easy to fast forward over the advertisements, sports news etc . . . It isn't perfect but it is certainly good enough.

Note that I use USB tuners on the Revo which also has a wireless connection to my Internet Gateway. The latter is only used for Surfing, updates etc it has nothing to do with MythTV which records the digital stream from Freeview.

Give it a try.
