Hi there,

My partner has been using an iMac and Macbook pro for years
predominantly for the purpose of Photoshop and other Adobe software
packages.

She now feels the need to upgrade the macbook. I'm a long term Linux
user and because of my influence she enjoys using it. She would really
like to buy a new PC with a shiny new Linux distro on it but we have
one serious stumbling block. Photoshop, which she rely's on for work.

Now, I've tried to install Photoshop using Wine on a brand new
Pavilion G7 and it doesn't even get past the installer - even with the
latest Wine version. I've spend countless hours on different tutorials
trying to get it installed and it just doesn't seem possible.

So, I am sending out a distress call :D has anyone successfully
installed Photoshop on Linux?

GIMP or Krita are not options unfortunately. This is apparently due to
a difference in functionality and compatibility issues between these
and Photoshop

Thanks in advance.

I've not read the other replies yet but I'd suggest having a look at
CrossOver Office. They do a 30 day trial version so you can give it a
try and see if it works before paying out for it (even then I think it's
only about 30 quid).

Looking at the site quickly it seems that some versions of Photoshop
work and some don't.
