Re: [LUG] Anyone managed to grab a slice of Pi?

Have you tried "sshmote" for Android? Can control VLC, Amarok, Kaffiene apparently, though I haven't tried it. I imagine VLC could be compiled for the pi - there are a few other android remote apps for VLC too.

Also - if anyone got another email from Farnell saying that their shipping date was now May/June, they did post an apology about this - your original shipping date still stands.

Long-time lurker, occasional poster here! So once again after a long
time..... Hi!

My pre-order with Farnell also says W/C 23/04/2012. But managed to get
registration in with RS just before they crashed that morning, so
fingers crossed!

Out of interest - what are you all planning to do with yours? I'm
looking at an XBMC install using either Raspbmc or OpenElec. Not quite
sure why those two aren't working together really. I currently run XBMC
on my main desktop - which is in a tower case, so this'll be somewhat
smaller......

I got an e-mail from Farnell today so I've pre-ordered.  It said something on the site about a month lead time, so not so bad.  I'm also looking at XBMC, I currently run it on an eMachines net top (low power AMD beastie) but as a favour for my ex I was hoping to set up the Raspberry Pi for her to use XBMC.  I'm also going to investigate setting one up in the car as a media player.  Again maybe using XBMC as I can control it from my phone (unless anyone can suggest a simple media player app which has an Android remote available?).

Other than that I'm also going to let the kids play with it too, although they have laptops already and they don't have a DVI or HDMI monitor (in fact I don't have a DVI or HDMI monitor myself, only the TV with HDMI).  Guess a new monitor will be on my shopping list sometime in the next couple of months.
