Re: [LUG] VNC and Compiz

Hi Kevin

The short of it is that VNC is taking its screen directly from the frame buffer,
when Compiz is in action it is working with the OpenGL layer in the video RAM which
is pr the frame buffer, so the only way to get a stable view using VNC is to turn
off Compiz.

Can you log in A as Compiz and B no compiz over VNC, the answer is yes but I haven't
configured it for years and a lot has changed.

The other way to approach this is to use SSH and forward X over the connection so
that you can run the apps you want to fiddle with from the remote machine.

final thing to take a look at is TeamViewer www.teamviewer.com you might find this
useful.
