I attended the Holsworthy Meeting 18th June past and was surprised as a new member that there was not more support. However this worked in my favour and I would like to say that the assistance freely given by Tom and Neil was much appreciated. With their assistance my Viglen mini desktop is now functioning correctly and they have pointed me in the direction of SSH rather than Remote Desktop that I had been attempting to use. Tom 'graphically' illustrated how little resource is used by running from the Terminal (as a former Windozer I had never even thought about this and am pleased that I bought the Viglen because all I want to do is text based !!). I will in future not be so scared of the command line but realise that I have oodles to learn !!
I would like to thank all those who offered advice on this subject.

That's great news, you'll find the command line is great, it's handy for low speed connections (for instance I can SSH into my server and do admin tasks, check my e-mail etc) from my phone or if I wanted to, a dialup connection. Depending on what phone you have you might be able to get a SSH client. I used to use Putty on my Nokia E63 (Symbian S60 based phone) and I have one on my Android phone now (can't remember for the life of me what it's called). I'm sure there are probably also Java and iPhone/iPad clients available too.

When you're a little bit more comfortable with the command line, you might want to have a look at Screen too which gives virtual terminals in a terminal, so if you're using something like a phone to connect in you can have more than one terminal and switch between them with a simple key combination.

Nothing for Windows Phone 7 but guessing nobody here has one? :)
