I have been prompted to to an apt-get autoremove by apt for a while, and ignored it... today I finally thought, ok, if it stops you moaning... Its removed a crud load of stuff I clearly need, since now I cant connect to my wlan, and Networkmanager was removed. I managed to get back online via ethernet with ifup, reinstalled network manager, it sees my wlan, 'connects' to my Wlan, but no internet surfing is happening until i reconnect the ethernet.
