You may find that a reinstall may load a newer config file which may be more appropriate as you may have kept a 'working' one during an upgrade of the package. On 27/01/11 23:18, kevin wrote:I would uninstall gdm then reinstallIn Debian you have "remove" and "purge", only purge would remove the config files. In Debian one can straight "reinstall" which will (depending on config) ask if you want to reset any config files to default. However if they haven't been changed there isn't much point.or perhaps try update gdm*He notes it is up to date. If he wants to try and work around the problem this way, Debian Squeeze has gdm3, but there is no guarantee it won't fail the same way, and gdm3 may need to be installed manually after an upgrade. My thoughts is it may make finding the problem harder if it doesn't go away.
