[LUG] Java Applet Security

I'm trying to write a couple of dead simple Java Applets for sticking in 
web pages but I cant get anything to run.
In AppletViewer I get security exceptions which I think claim it cant 
read the class file but I buggered if I can get the permissions sorted!
It was all green fields round here when I was a kid....
Cant find any simple guide to getting it to work.
Anyone played with this lately?
