600mhz machine with ubuntu 9.10,so i duly sent him a message informing
him of dclug.
he said he was fairly new to linux but was enjoying the experience and
was amazed at how many calls he got for such an old machine.
so flushed with his success i put to gether a slightly newer machine and
am going to test the water with mint 9 on freecycle,i might try a bit of
spamming on there as well extolling open source.

That sounds good Alex. Hopefully eventually we'll be able to get some LUG meetings up and running at the Exwick Community Centre, I bet there's loads of Linux users out there in Exeter & East Devon who might not have thought to join the LUG (it didn't occur to me to join a LUG when I started seriously using Linux when I was living in Derby, well not until just before I moved back to Devon).
