I've seen something similar at the Eden Project and Goonhilly where a company has chopped up old PCBs (unused PCBs however) and turned them into clipboards, covers for notebooks, key rings and all sorts. Perfect for the geeky type.

Recycle Devon http://recycledevon.org/ give these away from time to time. I've got one somewhere...

I do wonder though - how much energy (and time) is used to get the chips off the board, clean it, cut it and drill a hole it in to then take a keyring (probably made in China!) ... (Although the one I have looks like it's never been used, so just sawn up, hole drilled and a sticker applied...
