That's good to hear. I did find something a while ago for Linux (some GTK app) which would tell me what channels each wireless network was on (which made it easier to configure my mum's wireless). Can't remember what it was called though. Sods law I could probably with such an app at the moment too so I can sort out my wireless network so it doesn't interfere with the neighbours connection.

A brilliant app for the N900 is Wi-Fi Eye - I posted about it here a while back. Screenshot:

Most access ponints I've used have a scanner feature. Just pick the most free channel and remember that each channel really spans just over 2 channels either side of it. So from that image above, my AP on channel 13 has space on one side, but is busy the other (however the power levels of those APs are so low as to not be concerend), but the one on channel 4 has a little more to contend with, but it still has free space.

Note that the others there are all on channels 1, 7 and 11...
