Torbay Council  PR 2691    11/05/2010    [For Immediate Release]

Torbay businesses invited to free event to help shape the future of

Torbay's economy

Torbay Development Agency invites all Torbay businesses to a workshop

event on Friday that sets out its plans for the new economic strategy

that will be the driving force behind the physical and economic

regeneration of Torbay.

The Torbay Economic Strategy Forum takes place this Friday, 14 May, at

10am to 1pm at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay. The event is free and

everyone from the Torbay business community is welcome to attend.

Already many of Torbay's big players have registered for the free event.

Delegates from Spirient, Oclaro and others are already signed up to

attend the workshop. Torbay Development Agency is calling for more

delegates from small and medium size businesses, which make a

significant contribution to Torbay's thriving new economy and whose

opinions and feedback are important in planning for the future.

The Mayor of Torbay, Nick Bye, will give an introductory welcome and

Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Chris Lewis, will make

the closing summary following discussions and feedback from the

businesses attending.

The TDA Regeneration Policy Manager, Alan Denby, will lead discussions

from the group to explore Torbay's current economic position and what

challenges and opportunities lie ahead.

Torbay businesses of any size and sector are invited to come along to

this free event and make a valuable contribution to the discussion, or

to simply find out about what plans are already in place to help local

businesses survive and flourish.

Registration details and further information is available by contacting

Nicola Scoon at Torbay Development Agency on 01803 208 369 or emailing
