Re: [LUG] OT: Windows 7 is FREE (according to Dell)

Students get Windows 7 free as part of the MSDN Academic Alliance. The only reason I have any room on my laptop HDD for it is because of the Uni. Plymouth's insistence on very esoteric software or Windows-specific applications (i.e. Visual Studio, Microsoft Access, SELECT SSADM, POV-Ray, etc.).

My 18 month old Apple iPhone-3G is also a pain in the neck for Linux compatibility, and LAN gaming with friends isn't too Linux-friendly either. Though I guess with the former a jailbreak could probably improve iPhone Linux support, and PlayOnLinux is helpful with the latter. It's irritating because I'd gone through college (2 years) in a Linux solo-boot situation on my main machine. :( No prizes for guessing which system I prefer to boot into though ;)

Hi folks,

According to Dell, Windows 7 is now free.  At least that's what they told a
customer when they tried to get a refund.
