I was just surprised it would let you do this, without question, ok xkill is designed to stop crashed or dead applications, which it does. anyway its useful to know and as i said i investigated it further, so if you hear of anyone with the same issue, you know how to fix it. clearly xkill is powerful so just missing an app window causes this.
