So even if it does mean you have to send the board back to them (which 
would be what, a fiver or so?) then it's not a major issue if it saves 
you a few quid (or means you can sell the board on eBay at a later 
date to make some money back on it).

Hi Rob,
Update time,,, well i have sent two e-mails to gigabyte now and have not had one reply so it looks like a bin job ! shame really but never mind. will hang on to it for a while just in case i get a reply but not holding my breath (my machine is running like a dream now with the new board in and makes me wonder if the fault was starting to happen from the day i installed it).
