If I can throw in a situation I had with a Motherboard... Just 6 Months old the pc would fire up (fans etc) then switch off. I checked all the usual and disconnected all peripherals, but left the MoBo in the case. Just before sending it back (having removed it) I stuck in a PSU and touched the start pins together on the front panel connector with the MoBo on a piece of cardboard on the bench. and It fired up and stayed up....?
