I've been studying this problem for a while now and I've learned quite
a lot since I started. For one thing, I've come to the conclusion that
scanning for transmitters is problematic at best!

Looking at your Caradon Hill scan file, it looks like you're hitting
the same problem I was. Remember how I said a used cat to combine the
packaged scan file with my own file from w_scan? I've learned since
then that while I was getting most channels (turned out I was missing
one mux, COM4), some were coming from Stockland Hill and some were
coming from Redruth transmitter.

Looking at what you got for Caradon Hill, try this for a scan file

# uk-CaradonHill
T 474167000 8MHz AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO NONE # COM4
T 497833000 8MHz AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO NONE # COM5
T 506167000 8MHz AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO NONE # PSB2
T 521833000 8MHz 2/3 NONE QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # COM6
T 530167000 8MHz AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO NONE #PSB1

The only line I've added was the last one which carries all the BBC
channels. I pulled that number from:
http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=SX273707

In case any else is interested, my final scan file looks thusly:
# uk-StocklandHill
T 514167000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # PSB1
T 490167000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # PSB2
T 538167000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # PSB3 (DVB-T2)
T 505833000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # COM4
T 481833000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # COM5
T 529833000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE # COM6

Looking at the linux-tv hg repository, it looks like none of the
transmitters in the south west have been updated in upstream dvb-apps
package since the digital switch-over, which means most of them are
wrong. I'd like to get all the scan files for the south west updated,
so are there anyone out there that's using linux-tv on any of the
remaining transmitters?:
