There may be more Windows choices than I > said, but surely not over 100? Probably not if you only include those currently on sale.... The first 24 top levels of variation I found to hand are..... Windows 7 Starter Home Premium 32 Home Premium 64 Professional 32 professional 64 Ultimate 32 Ultimate 64 Windows Vista Home basic Home Premium Business Ultimate Windows XP Home Professional Media Centre Professional x64 -- Didn't bother to subdivide after this, but some like embedded come in client and server configs --- Windows Phone (aka Windows Mobile) Windows Automotive Windows Azure Windows Embedded Windows Media Center Windows Server Windows Essential Business Server Windows Small Business Server Windows Home Server I assume there are 64 bit Vista variants? Windows Mobile and others presumably have variants.... The real point is you buy it pre-installed. Most people struggle to remember what release of Windows they have (7 v Vista v XP) let alone if it is 64 bit or not. Why should they care any more about what version of GNU/Linux they have? But you can't remove the choice people have with free software, that is kind of the point, so quit worrying about it. If you want to help figure out how to sell it pre-installed, so people don't have to know. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
