Re: [LUG] Debian and home hubs.

 

Looks to me that you have a PRO/100 Ethernet card and an ath5k wifi- which is the same chipset as I had with no problems. I don't think it requires firmware, you just might be missing a userspace tool. Try with wicd if there isn't one by default. Do you know if the encryption is WPA or WEP? I think new black curvy homehubs have WPA and old white rectangular ones have WEP by default.

Lenny doesn't have any non-free
wireless firmware so you might have a bit of trouble unless
you download the firmware from the website (using ethernet
or a USB from another computer).
Ubuntu has them all,
but Debian is so free it takes them all out of the default
install.

Check by running "dmesg" to
check if it was looking for firmware it couldn't
find.
