Swing the lamp...  I remember as a little lad in Yorkshire walking over the 
top of 2 feet of frozen snow in 1947.  And it had been there over a month.  
But I was on a farm with our own eggs, milk butter, pork, and careful folk 
always had flour and sugar in so no big hardship.  But some weren't so lucky.

(We did live in a big cardboard box mind.) ('Appen.)
