On the flip side, when I was a kid a GameBoy Colour (Pikachu edition mind) cost £99 and for that I got some retro tunes and some collections of large pixels which looked somewhat like fat people. Nowadays for that money I can get a 22" display or a graphics card that'll make things look darned close to real, maybe a quad core CPU or some speakers (+amp) good enough to blow my brains out. Frankly, I'd rather pay an extra 50-70p for chips and have my brains blown out than live back in the days of 8 bit sound.

LOL, yep I guess some things have come down a tad. I'm a fan of retro gaming so for me, being able to get all the old classics cheaply is great. Although saying that I do have an XBOX 360 and I have played some of the more recent games and I do like some of them, it's just a case of I can't afford to spend £30 on a game at the moment. Thankfully there seem to be some good older titles out there selling cheaply.

I don't play games much on the PC, I have tried a couple of the Linux games and have been impressed but my hardware isn't up to spec and with 3 kids and a not so understanding wife, I have to limit what I can spend.
