You can install Ubuntu from within Windows using Wubi
http://wubi-installer.org/

If you want to create a bootable USB stick with whatever distro you
want, try UNetBootIn:
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

found a 16 gig memory stick for Â22 ish (delivered) from ccl if any one is interested,,
