The musicians generally enter into these contracts willingly.
Naively tho..

Lots of people want music contracts badly, so they will drive down prices.

But its like milk - the prices paid to the consumer are below cost, all the other real production costs involved have dropped and yet the price has risen. The only people who benefit are the business cartel and their political lobby.
