Some people like fresh installs though. Top tip, if you fresh install and choose manual partitioning, and choose NOT to format the disk, it will delete all of /bin /etc /var and so on, but WONT delete /home. So if you have / and /home on the same partition, this is a great way to reinstall without losing the data in your home directory, and without having to have a separate /home partition (although some people may prefer that). If you have any config or data outside of /home it will be lost, so make sure you backup and/or move the data into /home before you do the install. Also if you're downloading the ISOs, please use the torrents if you can, as this reduces the load on the mirrors. http://popey.com/karmic_torrents/ Cheers, Al. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
