TBH I'm not convinced a camera based slide copier is a quicker *or* more reliable solution as a) you can only scan one slide at a time and b) you're wholly reliant on ambient light levels in the location you are talking the pictures being consistent.  

Photography is about light, but we arrange whatever light we want for this, don't we?
Ambient wouldn't be my choice there. 

The best results will be from a device designed to do the job, and finding someone with it and handing them the job and some money would work well.  Scanners are slow fr this, dedicated slide scanners - there is a Coolpix I think - likely t o be a bit quicker, but taking a 3000 by 2000 pixel image with an adapter should be quite quick per exposure.
