As the person who started the petition (though I now think I was a
little... over-zealous) I have to say that I'm seriously disappointed
with the response.  Alone, it made sense, but the page that it linked to
was all about... well, which _Windows_ operating system to use.  And the
last part about use of Linux systems suggests that Microsoft has
ownership of Linux, as it claims that to use a free and open source OS
one would have to pay licenses to MS.

So much for "Becta is the Government Agency leading the national drive
to ensure the effective use of technology throughout learning".

I did do the research on what BECTA was and what their advice was
beforehand, though I don't recall seeing even a mention of Linux at the
time.

Ah, well.
