I think I've heard of that is it WDS? I've often thought of doing something
like that but didn't think there were many Routers which supported it and
(like in days of yore with Wi-Fi) they had to be from the same manufacturer
To work well together?

Forget extra antennae, etc.  and get a 2nd Wi-Fi unit that can work in 
repeater mode and put it in the conservatory.
