Well done on making the leap..

I am aware that the LPI do an Ubuntu certification, might I suggest that
as a starting block.

Problem with the RedHat certification is that you are reliant on a Linux
vendor, and their specific quirks, to be able to pass the course.
CompTIA seems a little too vague for my liking.

I can highly recommend the books by the nice people at o'rielly, I got
their "LPI In a Nutshell" before I took my LPI 1 certification (back in
2004, I plan to do level 2 soon) and it REALLY helped.. I don't 'do'
books much, but that one was great.

there's my 2p worth..

If you want I can probably dig out the LPI training centre details (had
an email about it recently), drop me a line off list if you're interested..
