I'd fix the printer issues before worrying about sharing it.

What is logged in the CUPS log? Most GNU/Linux and Unix printer drivers
are scripts, so in the unlikely event they don't log errors verbosely
enough one can usually easily persuade them to be very verbose.

Windows can print using IPP, so you should not need Samba to act as a
print server. Once you have printing in GNU/Linux working, I'd try the
IPP route first as it is a sensibly documented standard unlike the mess
which is Microsoft networking.
