Richard

Probably not quite what you are lokking for but I have found http://www.conduit-project.org/ to be ver useful for sync tasks.

It has plugins for external web apps that may help.

Ok in terms of media servers there are loads. I have a wd mybook II
hanging around so I am thinking of hacking that and loading:
Firefly Media Server (if it stille exists)
MediaTomb <http://www.jpkessler.de/mybookupnp/index.html>
Twonky Media <http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/forum/t-46375/twonkymedia-on-mybook-possible-clue>
Ushare <http://www.mybookworldedition.co.nr/ushare.html>

Any others please? Any suggestions on what is best?

That covers media - next iCal, iPhoto, Address Book?
