Was looking for that as well. In googling came across www.free-av.com (avira). Was recommended in pcpro

I use antivir and while it does have a reported higher catch-rate than the other freebies avg clam or avast, it does have an annoying 'buy the pro version' pop reminder about once a week.
 
However, it does have one major thing over AVG in that you can configure the scheduled scanning in the free version so it doesn't grind things to a halt.
 
So as long as your peeps don't mind getting hit with some freebie shameless advert, it is a very good (German) product.
