Once upon a time I used to get this sort of response from NatWest. Then I set
my main browser (Konqueror) to show its identity as Mozilla --
Settings > Configure Konqueror > Browser Identification
Tick 'Send Browser Identification'
Tick 'Send Operating System Name'
New > ... and enter the site details.
One thing to note is that the site address often changes as you log-on, enter
secure mode etc. so you might need to enter several 'new' rules, one for each
page or group of pages. I have to have one for natwest.com , a further one
for nwolb.com etc. This can require patience. You have to open the first
page, note how the page / site address has changed when you to get to the
next page where the bank gives you a fresh 'unsupported browser' or similar
message, then go back to 'settings' to add the browser identification for
that page, return to the bank's site and repeat again for the third page with
an error message. And so on. But it has only got to be set up once. Firefox
allows something similar.
I use Mozilla as the browser name but there is also the option to pretend to
be IE. Since doing this, the NatWest site works just fine with Konqueror. I
don't know if this method would work for Norwich Union but it might be worth
a try.
