Not quite sure what you mean by "3's own network" but I can tell you,
they buy airtime from Orange. I know this because despite being a 3
customer, my mobile displays the carrier as Orange.
Whether something similar applies to mobile internet access, I'm not
sure, but I wouldn't mind betting that they do buy services in.
