They should *just* work, they should present themselves as usb mass 
storage devices. Of cause if you have usb issues and can't get usb 2 
working it will be a bit of a dog but thats not the fault of the drive.

I use a freecom drive with my NSLU2 and swap it into laptops as well, 
great little device, although it didn't work with my car radio, USB 
would drop out after 5 seconds, possibly a fault in the implementation 
at one end. But not seen issues with linux.
