Also notice how all the ADSL ISPs go to pains to quote the maximum you *could* get, not what you actually do get. My brother in London was paying for a "mb line and actually getting 1Mb - sorted now but you have to watch them like a hawk. Per quarter I'm paying the same as you for five times the speed. And no download limits. Smells like a rip-off to me. A very quick Google gave me http://www.compare-online.co.uk/computing_internet/internet/isps/adsl_-_broadband/adsl_-_broadband10.html Even if you're convinced you want Business 2Mb I found https://secure.v21.co.uk/sec/_agent/v21/index.asp?page=customer_signup/package_detail&a_code=9021958&pre=&smp_id=159 V21 - 2Mb Business DSL, 23.99pcm which works out to £71.97 per quarter and contention ratio 20:1 which seems OK. Not sure if it is unlimited, probably, and you save £30 per quarter. Oh and there is an option for a fixed IP (but that might be extra). That's only one I found - there are loads of others I didn't even look at. >> I am happy with BTconnect as an ISP but wonder whether the cost is not too high. >> My connection is a business account and alternative ISPs seem all to be for >> private/home use. >> > > So? Neil's right - I have two laptops and my desktop which can all connect through my router. Virginmedia don't give a monkey's how many machines I have. >> I like the unlimited use I have as it means I do not have to worry about >> exceeding a limit. >> > > Limited broadband has all but disappeared, despite the adverts that try > to say it is commonplace. My brother (yes the one in London again) lives in Hornsey and contention has been a bit of a sod, but for me living in a Barry in S Wales it's not an issue, besides as I said I'm on cable which is balanced better. What is the cable situation in Devon/Cornwall?
