Various points

- Have you tried http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/index.html
to download the linux drivers for your printer? Explanations are
    pretty clear

    They include:
    - The source code
    - RPM Installer packages for Redhat
    - Debian installer packages

- For the HP, try
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_1018

- Regarding signatures on Thunderbird (the Mozilla email client) try
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.php?title=Signatures_(Thunderbird)&redirect=no
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mozilla_Suite_:_FAQs_:_Signature

But please do not use html, when emailing to the list
