They still costs hundreds of pounds a month, but availability isn't an issue. Anyone who doesn't restrict you, is likely to be working at high contention ratios (or high effective contention ratios - if everyone else is unlimited as well), which makes it suddenly a lot less appealing. My traffic is measured against a limit, but this only occurs during the working day, when I'm actually using it there is no traffic limit in effect. Based on the figures I've seen bandied around by the big ISPs, I suspect a certain amount of traffic shaping for some peer to peer services will creep into a lot of networks quickly, as it would be bad economics not to I suspect. I wonder how they'll restrict the freenet project, as its traffic uses encryption to hide the service in use. I'm guessing anything not prioritised will fall into the also-ran category -- perhaps we should do peer to peer over DNS ;) http://freenetproject.org/
