Ubuntu is synced six-monthly with etch at the moment - I'm not sure which of those it is, but I've a sneaking suspicion it's unstable.

Yes, but other than the look and feel there's no change, and absolutely no need for a separate distro site. There's no such thing as Fedora Kore...
