Etch... I needed a 2.6.12 kernel before my Ali/Uli chipset (Abit or
Asus, can't remember which) was picked up properly. (I suppose it was
about a year ago I built that particular box)
 
Yeah, we all know that 2.6.12 is far too new for anyone to be expected to use it.
It might have been three months after its release (for Deb users) but it's not now. No useful distro won't include it or a much later version.
