I'm disappointed that Mandriva haven't sorted out problems like this because most packages CAN be built for 64bit (as Debian does) but it does require building each one properly. If a package doesn't start on 64bit, it should simply be removed from the 64bit archives until it's fixed, especially with a distro like Mandriva that, as Mandrake, built up a good reputation for being friendly to new users. > So my personal advice to all, if you get Mandrive2006, don't bother > with the 64bit version, stick with 32bit. Probably not right now, just bear in mind for future reference - and a Debian install is more involved than a Mandrake/Mandriva install.
