We had a lot of noise on our line (crackling etc),  and I was noticing 
my net connection dropping sometimes so we contacted bt support who sent 
an engineer round to do some tests on the Line,

Anyway it's all fixed now and I got a new adsl filter, so perhaps it's 
worth contacting BT (or telephone provider), and get them to check the 
line quality
